The Story of Clinic Naturae and Its Founder

At the heart of Clinic Naturae lies a story of resilience, transformation, and devotion to healing.

Our founder, Rumana, turned profound hardship into a lifelong mission to help others reclaim their health and vitality. Guided by both science and the timeless wisdom of natural medicine, she has dedicated her life to empowering people with the tools, knowledge, and care needed to heal not just the body, but the whole self.

Clinic Naturae is the living embodiment of her journey: where adversity became strength, and where healing is shared with others through compassion, expertise, and nature’s gifts.

“Clinic Naturae unites science, natural medicine, and mindfulness to empower people to restore balance, gain resilience, reclaim vitality, and live with wholeness in body, mind, and spirit.”

Early Life: A Journey Shaped by Challenge

From a young age, Rumana, carried responsibility far beyond her years. While still at school, she became a carer for her mother, who had been left unwell after contracting meningitis. Home life was difficult and the strain of living with so much responsibility at such a young age lefts its mark.

During this period, Rumana developed an eating disorder and lost a significant amount of weight. One morning, she woke up in hospital and knew something had to change. Not wanting to go through life feeling broken, she knew a new way forward had to be found.

But life brought more trials. Her father passed away and a second bout of meningitis eventually took her mother’s life six months later. Confronted with illness, trauma and profound loss, Rumana faced a crossroads: continue to be defined by suffering or transform life through healing.

The Turning Point: Discovering Natural Medicine

Rumana’s own health struggles pushed her to seek answers, not wanting to rely on pharmaceutical drugs whose side effects often seemed worse than the conditions they were meant to treat. Instead, she turned to natural medicine.

Her own healing sparked a passion that would define her life, exploring the wisdom of nutrition, herbal medicine, naturopathy, homeopathy, kinesiology, iridology, bodywork, and yoga. Each step deepening the conviction that the body has an innate capacity to heal when given the right conditions.

Learning from the Masters

Rumana sought out some of the finest teachers around the world to deepen her knowledge. She trained with Jill Davies and Richard Schulze at the School of Natural Medicine, learned with Angela and Peter Bradbury at the Holistic Health College, and travelled to India to study under the late Dr. Vijayakar, an esteemed homeopath and Classical Kinesiology with Terry Larder. She also trained in three yoga teacher training programmes, embodying the very practices she taught.

This journey was driven by an obsession to learn everything about natural medicine. Over the years, she committed herself to training and qualifying in multiple disciplines, many of which took many years or more of rigorous study to complete. This dedication gave both breadth and depth, not just a single approach, but a complete framework of natural healing that she continues to refine and live by today.

A Life of Meditation and Self-Practice

Alongside her medical training, Rumana cultivated a deep practice of meditation, a thread that has carried on throughout her life. Over the years this inner work became inseparable from her healing path, grounding her through loss, study, and clinical practice. Today meditation, mindfulness and awareness are core to her practice and the principle that true healing begins with self-practice.

This lifelong devotion to inner discipline shapes her approach to health: tending not only to the body, but also to the mind and spirit. For Rumana, awareness and mindfulness are as vital as herbs and nutrition in restoring balance and wholeness.

From Scientist to Practitioner

Before turning fully to natural medicine, Rumana trained and worked as a microbiologist for a UK Water Company. Science sharpened her curiosity and taught her to ask questions, search for evidence and look deeply into hidden patterns. When combining scientific training and natural medicine path, a unique balance between science and tradition was formed.

Her work as a practitioner soon blossomed into research, with published studies that explored the value of herbal medicine and integrative practice.

Working with the Hardest Cases

Over the years, Rumana became known for working with patients who faced some of the hardest challenges, complex, chronic conditions that conventional medicine and science could not find cures for. These patients often lived with multiple symptoms, overlapping diagnoses, and years of struggle. Many were willing to try anything to get well. They welcomed the chance to work with Rumana, who combined her scientific training, deep clinical experience, and natural medicine knowledge to bring hope and new possibilities where others had reached dead ends.

Building Clinic Naturae

For more than 30 years, Rumana has worked with thousands of clients, guiding them through their own journeys back to health. The vision shaped Clinic Naturae, a multi-modality centre and herbal dispensary where ancient wisdom and modern science come together.

Many of the products used in the clinic are formulated by Rumana herself, developed through years of direct clinical experience. They have grown out of real work with real people sitting in clinic observing what helps, what restores and what supports lasting change.

Beyond the clinic itself , Rumana has also served the wider profession with dedication including as Chair of the Association of Master Herbalists, through contributions to the Herbal Alliance and as an active member of the Laurence Society of Holistic Medicine. Along the way, her work was recognised nationally with a prestigious award for one of her clinics.

Sharing Knowledge with the World

Rumana’s passion for natural health has reached far beyond her practice. Delivering programmes in workplaces and internationally, given talks and workshops, and trained medical students at university level in natural medicine as part of their medical education. She sees sharing knowledge as just as important as clinical practice itself.

A Living Heritage

Rumana’s life story is woven into the fabric of Clinic Naturae. It is a story of overcoming hardship, seeking truth, and transforming adversity into healing. Today, Clinic Naturae stands as a living heritage of natural medicine, rooted in science, enriched by tradition and strengthened by the mindfulness and awareness that come from a lifetime of dedication.

At its heart is a simple but powerful belief: that people are more than their symptoms, that the body holds an innate capacity for healing and that with the right conditions, profound change is possible.
